Induction Week

The Office of Student Affairs conducts Student Orientation for all the freshmen at Thames at the beginning of their first semester of study. Participation in Student Orientation is mandatory.

The College Administration, faculty members and Student Affairs staff participate in the program, which is designed to make transition into college life easier and more enjoyable. The student orientation includes briefing and discussion on Student Handbook also including services and facilities on campus, rules and regulations and opportunities for student involvement. The Office of Student Affairs may also offer electives, workshops and seminars as a part of Student Orientation.


Academic Advising

The Academic Advisors work with college administration and faculty to ensure that students have access to information and services that could help them succeed at Thames.

Academic Advisors support the students in the following ways:
  • Meet individually with students each term to know about their experiences at Thames
  • Collect feedback from students with regard to curricular and extracurricular engagements
  • Advise students on the various activities on and beyond campus
  • Evaluate transcripts from other institutions for potential transfer of credit
  • Coordinating Student Support Services including Student Tutor programs, Writing Centre and Maths Centre
  • Work with students who are not meeting the minimum standards for satisfactory academic progress (including attendance requirements)
  • Create personalized success plans to assist students in achieving their academic goals
