On April 23, 2025, the David J. Rusk Library at Thames International College hosted its annual World Book Day celebration—an event dedicated to honoring the power of books, creativity, and imagination.
This year's celebration invited imaginative readers, creative thinkers, and exceptional artists to come together and share their love for literature through two engaging activities: the Book Confession Wall and a Bookmark-Making Session. Both events provided a fun and interactive way for students to reflect on their reading journeys, express their creativity, and connect with peers through shared literary experiences.
Book Confession Wall: A Moment to Share, Laugh, and Reflect
The Book Confession Wall offered a space for students to anonymously or openly share their most memorable, emotional, or humorous book-related experiences. Whether it was a plot twist that left them stunned, a character they unexpectedly fell in love with, or a book they never quite finished (but claimed they did), every confession became a part of a collective literary memory wall.
Bookmark-Making Session: Telling Stories Through Art
In this hands-on creative session, students designed personalized bookmarks centered around the theme "Favorite Book or Preferred Character's Element." Participants were encouraged to explore the stories and inspirations behind their chosen designs, translating literary themes into visual art.
Through these activities, World Book Day at Thames not only celebrated the joy of reading but also highlighted the many ways literature can inspire expression, creativity, and connection.
