Read Against the Machine: Subversive Histories for Collective Liberation

Read Against the Machine: Subversive Histories for Collective Liberation is an immersive course shaped by artworks from the Global South at PhotoKTM6. The course invites participants to critically engage with histories of imperialism, resistance, and internationalist solidarity through history, the present and an imagined future. Through guided tours, reading circles, artist talks, films, and creative workshops, participants are asked to think critically about what solidarity means in our current time and place, and why anti-imperialist and decolonial thinking remains urgent in a so-called postcolonial world.

Through an exploration of the continuing impact of colonial imperialism on today’s world, the course provides participants with the opportunity to explore how to re-examine an archive of documents, images, and histories to create alternative narratives.
