Tea for Teachers

The "Tea for Teachers" workshop is organized to equip Thames faculty and staff with vital skills and knowledge on how to support student mental health in a college environment. On July 19, over the course of a six-hour interactive session, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on student mental health, learning practical strategies to recognize signs of distress, provide support, and create a more empathetic academic atmosphere.

Topics covered in the training

  • The importance of prioritizing mental health in college settings,
  • Common mental health challenges faced by college students,
  • Recognizing early warning signs of mental health concerns,
  • The critical role of teachers in fostering student well-being,
  • Practical tools and strategies for meaningful daily interactions with students.

This initiative underscores Thames's commitment to prioritizing student wellbeing and empowering educators to be mental health advocates. The workshop also encouraged open conversations about mental health, breaking stigmas, and fostering a supportive campus community. By equipping teachers with these tools, Thames aims to ensure a holistic approach to education that addresses both academic and emotional growth.
