'Art' entails a spectrum of creativity from the human mind, while 'Entry Point' signifies a gateway to exploration. The Thames Writing Center beautifully merges these concepts, inviting artists, experts, professionals, and a thematic collection of their art to engage students in meaningful conversations about contemporary social and political issues. Art Entry Point encourages diverse, critical perspectives from students, fostering the realization of ideas, the clarity of expressions, and the nurture of a dedicated academic journey.
Typically, this event consists of two parts: a discussion with the artist and a reading circle using a simple, introductory reading list created by the Writing Center team. This gives students the opportunity to see the artwork, learn about it, and the art-making process. Guided exhibition walks are another activity offered by Art Entry Point.
