National Library Day 2025

On August 31st, David J Rusk Library hosted the 18th National Library Day celebration  with a theme 'Our Library: Our Future'. The day was centered around celebrating readers while taking out time for reading and engaging in conversation about the books as well. Students engaged in various activities like silent reading where they read quietly together in the same space. After the reading session, participants who were interested could also express their reflection from the book creatively through painting or drawing. A photo booth was also designed so that students could share their love for the literary world. And in order for students to get familiar with library resources and make it more accessible, a game based on the coding system of the library was hosted and those who could find the books were rewarded.

Simultaneously, bookmarks were also showcased that were made by students, and a photo exhibition on the ongoing war happening at Gaza also took place. Students could doodle their emotions on seeing those pictures and express their emotions on the issue. This not only encouraged them to be aware but also empathetic and understanding of the ongoing issues happening around them.

The event targeted readers who wanted to celebrate the day together through the medium of reading and sharing ideas while making it fun with interactive games and understanding the inner workings of the library.
