On June 27, David J. Rusk Library hosted an inspiring Book Talk featuring Durga Karki and her acclaimed work, Kumari Prasnaharu. This interactive event offered students an opportunity to engage deeply with the themes and stories of the book.
About the author:
Durga Karki is a lawyer by training, journalist by interest and a writer by passion. She is an associate Programme Officer in Kathmandu Office, Nepal Programme. Before 2018, she worked as a TV presenter and reporter for a kids' news programme produced by Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists. She also writes columns in national newspapers and online portals.
About the book:
The book is an anthology collection of 13 short stories, following major themes of social realism and feminism. It highlights the social and gender inequality in Nepali society.
The event highlighted the blend of literature and history, sparking meaningful conversations about tradition, community, and storytelling while providing students with a unique perspective on Nepalese culture and its traditions.
