Rusk Library buzzed with excitement as they welcomed celebrated Nepali poet and novelist, Pragati Rai for an engaging book talk about her latest work, 'थाङ्ग्रा' (Thangra), on the 10th of January, 2025. Published by Phoenix Books, Thangra is a powerful story that touches on love, conflict, and the pursuit of equality, addressing important issues like inheritance rights for daughters, caste discrimination, and women's equality.
About the Author:
Pragati Rai is a Nepali poet and novelist, widely known for her first novel, Lekhak Ki Swasni (The Writer’s Wife, 2014). Pragati burst into the Nepali literary scene with a slim collection of powerful poems called Badi Bigyapti (Baadi Press Release, 2009). Her latest book Thangra was nominated for the Madan Puraskar and the Padmashree Sahitya Puraskar, 2079 B.S., and won the Pahichan Puraskar in the same year.
Pragati Rai's art of storytelling left the audience captivated. This book talk was a conversation about the challenges we face as a society and the role of literature in shaping change.
