Hello Thameians,
My name is Milee Shrestha, and I am the president of the Sustainability Club for the 2024-2025 school year. I have always been passionate about creating a positive environmental impact, and this year, I am honored to lead the Sustainability Club at Thames International College. Through this role, I have not only become more involved but also more connected with fellow students who share a vision for a greener future.
The Sustainability Club is a student-led organization dedicated to promoting and implementing sustainable practices at Thames. Our mission is to raise awareness about environmental issues, advocate for sustainable solutions, and initiate projects and campaigns that focus on waste reduction, energy conservation, recycling, and ecological preservation. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and we often work with other clubs and local organizations to foster a greener and more sustainable environment for everyone.
Now, what exactly is the Student Council? In simple terms, the Student Council is made up of elected and volunteer students who are selected by their peers to work for the benefit of the student body. While some may mistakenly view the council as a group that merely gives orders, our true purpose is to support and serve the students. We aim to build a sense of companionship and offer opportunities for engagement through activities and volunteering, staying true to the essence of student leadership.
I look forward to seeing the Sustainability Club’s plans and initiatives unfold in the upcoming school year. While this year may bring challenges, the commitment and enthusiasm of our members assure me that we are ready to make a meaningful difference. Together, we will work towards a greener and more sustainable future for Thames and beyond.
