Thames International College officially began its academic year with a vibrant Orientation Week designed to welcome new students, introduce them to the campus culture, and connect them with Thames’ values and resources. The week blended engaging sessions, interactive activities, and community service, making the transition into college life both meaningful and memorable.
On August 11, students participated in “Life at Thames”, a session that highlighted the academic journey, experiential learning opportunities, and the essence of campus life. The day concluded with a lively treasure hunt, where students, divided into groups, explored the campus and interacted with faculty members while solving clues that led to the final prize.
On August 12, the Heart and Mind Hub hosted “Color Your Emotions”, a guided session that encouraged students to recognize, label, and express their emotions openly. This was followed by a practical introduction to digital learning tools such as Fuse Classroom, the online library, and other academic resources.
The theme of inclusivity and identity was explored on August 13 with “Queeriosity: Exploring Shades of Identity”, an eye-opening session that introduced students to diverse queer experiences and multiple ways of expressing identity. It encouraged participants to reflect on identity in a more nuanced and empathetic way.
The week concluded on August 14 with a Community Service trip to Pharping, where students volunteered at the Shikharapur Community Learning Center. This experience emphasized the importance of social responsibility and giving back to society.
Orientation Week at Thames was not limited to introduction but an opportunity to build connections, explore self-expression, and embrace the culture of continuous learning. For many, it marked the beginning of their journey as a part of the Thames family.
