Student Council of Thames International College(SCOTIC) is an independent entity of the college with its own constitution and board. SCOTIC organizes a number of major events each year and serves as a liaison between the administration and the students. The Student Council at the Thames looks out for the student’s best interests and encourages them to participate in extracurricular activities. The council not only acts as a mediator but also makes recommendations to management on necessary adjustments and critical matters to be handled. The student college hosts a variety of large events, and its primary goal is to make student life at Thames memorable. Yearly, SCOTIC hosts events such as Freshers Party, Diversity Day, Grads Night, Hiking, and other activities that students look forward to during their college years, and SCOTIC organizes them in a way that all students appreciate.
Greetings, everyone!
My name is Nirwan Maharjan, and I am the President of the Student Council of Thames International College for the year 2024-2025. It is an honor to serve as the president of the council I once aspired to join, and I am thrilled to share more about who we are and what we do.
The Student Council of Thames International College, commonly known by its acronym SCOTIC, is the premier student body at Thames International College.
One of the major highlights of being a SCOTIC member is the abundance of opportunities and experiences that come with it. We engage in various activities within and beyond the vibrant and diverse community of Thames College. From organizing exciting events such as the Freshers' Party, Diversity Day, Annual Camping, Grads Night, and more, to serving as a bridge between students and the college, we truly get to experience college life to the fullest.
For me personally, SCOTIC has been the biggest contributor to my growth at the college. I have learned a great deal about leadership, event management, financial planning, communication, and more. The journey from being a member to becoming the president has been incredible. I have grown as a student, a leader, a teammate, a professional, and as a person overall.
With the new tenure underway and an amazing team beside me, I look forward to leading the Student Council to the best of my abilities.
Thank you!
