The Heart and Mind Hub at Thames International College organized a series of engaging sessions to honor the World Day for Cultural Diversity. The program centered on celebrating the richness of diverse cultural, ethnic, sexual, and religious identities while creating a safe and inclusive space for dialogue and reflection.
The event began with an interactive session on cultural identity, dominant narratives, and discussions. Students critically explored questions such as what makes cultures unique and how mainstream narratives shape our understanding of diversity. Through discussions and reflection, participants were encouraged to recognize both shared experiences and unique perspectives.
The series culminated in an exhibition titled “This is Me and My Story.” This powerful showcase celebrated individuality and inclusivity, offering students a platform for self-expression while highlighting the nuances of individual differences through lived experiences.
The initiative sought to amplify stories that are too often untold, reminding the community of the strength found in diversity and the importance of creating spaces for inclusion and acceptance.
