Stitching Stories

Stitching Stories

Some emotions don't come easily in words. "Stitching Stories," facilitated by Anita Prajapati from Samata Psychosocial Care, made room for that.

The session brought participants together to explore storytelling and emotional expression through embroidery and stitching. At its heart was a simple but grounding idea: one breath, one stitch. The repetitive motion of needlework became a doorway into mindfulness and presence for all.

We started by getting familiar with the materials and introducing ourselves by stitching something we resonated with, a plant, an animal, or whatever felt right. Over two days, the stitching became more than just a craft. Through activities like "club of life" drawing, movement-based exercises, and open conversations, we reflected on our values, our relationships, and the emotions we don't always know how to say out loud.

What stayed with us were the stories we shared and the sense of belonging that came from creating something together.
