Camping offers a perfect escape from the fast-paced city life, providing not only adventure and relaxation but also opportunities to learn essential life skills. This year, the Student Council of Thames International College elevated its annual hiking event to an even more ambitious and immersive experience—a camping event at Kakani.
The hike to the campsite promised more than just scenic views; it was designed to instill valuable lessons in teamwork, resilience, and basic survival skills, while also encouraging participants to unlearn habits that may hinder personal growth. Guided by professionals from Scout Nepal, the event ensured a safe and enriching experience for all involved.
Sundown @ Kakani delivered an unforgettable experience, packed with engaging elements that brought students together. Students enjoyed a cozy bonfire under the crisp, cool Kakani night, accompanied by a variety of fun games and activities designed to nurture camaraderie. Here’s what a few participants had to say about the experience:
"It was a fantastic opportunity for us to learn how to effectively engage and communicate with students while also leading the program seamlessly. Overall, it was a fun and enriching experience." -Suyasha Regmi, CDC Coordinator
"Participating in the camping adventure organized by OSA and SCOTIC was an unforgettable experience! I had so much fun engaging in various activities and bonding with my fellow friends. Can't wait for the next adventure!" -Manushi Giri, Student
"I was very sceptical about the whole hiking thing given the route, however, surrounded by such motivated and fun people, I actually had a gala time. It was also a great way to unwind all my troubles and thoughts for a while. I especially enjoyed playing rumal lukai, which reminded me of my childhood. 10/10 would do it again." -Safreen, Graduate Assistant
